GSI was sub-contracted by Itech Business Consult (IBC) to provide technical assistance to Moroto Municipal Council under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development Program (USMID), a government of Uganda program executed by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development (MLHUD) and financed by World Bank. The overall program objective is to enhance the institutional performance of the 14 Program Municipal Local Governments to improve urban service delivery, which includes: Arua, Gulu, Lira, Soroti, Moroto, Mbale, Tororo, Jinja, Entebbe, Masaka, Mbarara, Kabale, Fort Portal and Hoima.
GSI provided hands on
technical assistance to Moroto Municipal Council aimed at improving Public Sector Procurement, Financial
Management, Municipal Finances Mobilization as well as Transparency and
Accountability. Specifically, GSI provided mentoring sessions to the Municipal
Councils officials in public procurement, transparency and accountability as
well as conducting Local revenue mobilization (LRM) assessment, updating the
revenue registers, improving the billing and collection efficiencies aimed at
increasing Municipal own-source revenue and accountability.
